Diversion Program
The Problem: A local Prosecutor has instituted a diversion program for first time low level felony offenders which diverts some offenders into a community based counseling program rather than court and jail time. A plaintiff in a shoplifting case has asked to be placed in the Diversion Program. The Prosecutor needs to make a decision whether or not to accept the plaintiff into the program.
The Solution: The Prosecutor calls Span. We recommend a hair test to determine past abuse and a substance abuse assessment.
The Outcome: Within a few days the Prosecutor has received both the drug screen and assessment report revealing the plaintiff’s drug history and current level of addiction if any. The Prosecutor can make an informed decision based on objective information regarding drug abuse as well as other factors determined through his review of the plaintiff’s petition. |
